The Digital Millennium Copyright Act amended title 17 of the United States Code to add Chapter 12, which among other things prohibits circumvention of access control technologies employed by or on behalf of copyright owners to protect their works. Specifically, subsection 1201(a)(1)(A) provides, inter alia, that ‘‘No person shall circumvent a technological measure that effectively controls access to a work protected under this title.’’
