| - Moved over from Sonny With a Chance Wiki talk:Policy. It seems we're in need of some policies to keep the character galleries from getting huge and out of control. If a majority of you agrees, we can discuss some potential policies here. Some ideas for policies:
* An overall limit, such as "no more than 15 images in a character article gallery."
* Banning the addition of more than one image from the same episode.
* Banning the addition of images which prominently feature other characters (very similar to a policy suggested by Maesaur). You can use this section to give feedback on this topic. Maybe you don't think there should be any policies; maybe you want to suggest other ones. Whatever your opinion is, please, share! :) Just remember to always be polite and courteous, and please sign your posts using four tildes (~~~~) or the signature button. ---Zukogray 01:18, June 18, 2010 (UTC) I definitely think that no image should appear more than once on the same page, and absolutely not more than once in the same gallery. ---Zukogray 07:12, June 22, 2010 (UTC) It'd be really great if people could please offer their opinions on this! :) I don't want to have to make the decisions myself, since that's not really fair to all of you, but I'm not sure what else to do other than decide myself if you guys don't give input, since we need gallery policies. ---Zukogray 01:36, June 26, 2010 (UTC) I really hope the third one becomes an official policy, it's so annoying seeing people adding lots of images just because one character is present in the picture even if he isn't the only one. I know we all love Channy, but seeing those images repeated in the CDC page and the Sonny page is just too much. that, and i'm pretty sure some are adding them just to increase their number of badges. >_> oh, and as for the character images for the main cast, can we limit it to individual promo pictures? (cast of So Random! + Chad Dylan Cooper) it's bad enough seeing screenshots all over the place, but some people even go and add non-SWAC images. Maesaur 11:47, July 3, 2010 (UTC) Yeah, while the badge system is a great motivator, it makes it really hard to assume good faith in situations like this. *sigh* Which is why I really wanna get these policies made. The promo images policy makes tons of sense and would eliminate lots of problems right there. I think it does enhance the article to have a few pics that show the character with someone else (to depict their relationship with the person), BUT it would make more sense to have those in the body of the article and not in the gallery. And since most of the main articles do already have pictures throughout the article depicting the important relationships, we're good there. So at present, I'm in favor of both these policies: 1.
* No images which prominently feature other characters--e.g., it's ok if there are blurry people in the background, but if they are clearly meant to be part of the picture, then that's not acceptable. 2.
* Only promo images are allowed (no screencaps). ((If people can't tell the difference, we can always create a category for promo images so people know what's what.)) However, I'm gonna give both those policies a little more thought before I give my official vote. I do want to get this decided soon, though, so let's say that July 11 is the deadline to vote. No more votes will be accepted after the end of that day. You can vote in favor of a policy, or of multiple policies, that have been suggested, or you can suggest a different policy and give it your vote. ---Zukogray 14:59, July 3, 2010 (UTC) All right, I'm officially voting in favor of both Policy 1 and Policy 2, as listed in my last post. ---Zukogray 03:45, July 9, 2010 (UTC) Definitely in favor of 1 & 2 as well. as for 2, i think we should allow screencaps for characters who aren't part of the main cast (because let's face it, only the main cast ever gets promo pictures.
