| - The Silver Castle was a Mandalorian space station created by Mandalore Canderous Ordo between 3,955 BBY and 3,951 BBY. It was a top secret project and the first part of it was constructed on the Mandalorian moon, Dxun. It contained the first superlaser powerful enough to destroy a planet. When Canderous died battling many strong and worthy creatures on Dxun, his right hand man, Jaster Mereel, assumed the title of Mandalore. He retook Mandalore, the homeworld of the Mandalorians, and established the Mandalorian Empire. Parts of the Silver Castle hull were broken into smaller pieces and shipped to Mandalore. There, they completed the hull and most of the insides, placing it in a dry dock in space where it was finished. It took over fifteen years to complete. At the time of the Second Mandalorian Wars, the Silver Castle had become the flagship of the Mandalorian Empire and was a great symbol for the people. Fearing it be destroyed in an attack, Mandalore Mereel kept it in the orbit of Mandalore for the entire war. He felt the superlaser was a non-honorable way of defeating an opponent and banned its use for further Mandalores. When Rikenn Tarbann became Mandalore, and peace was established amongst galactic powers, the Silver Castle was used as a training center for Republic troops and Mandalorian recruits. A terrorist group, whom still held feelings towards the Mandalorians for the destruction of the war, attempting to blow the space station up, but failed. They did succeed in killing hundreds but only damaged the Silver Castle in one section. It was simply too large to destroy in by any conventional means, besides several large ships crashing into it. Mandalore the Populace was assassinated several years later by the Sith. A young Mandalorian captain by the name of Kessam Prun took over the mantle. In the subsequent decades, he would become a power-hungry dictator and oppress the peoples of the Mandalorian Empire. Prun used the Silver Castle as a means of keeping power, much like the Galactic Empire did with the Death Star. Though he never actually used the superlaser, it did keep the citizens in line, for a while. But as a natural law, every action has a equal, but opposite reaction, and a person did rise to question Kessam's authority. This person was Trams Nylos, grandson of one of the greatest Mandalorians ever, Bage Nylos. Trams left the Mandalorian Empire and created a rebel alliance dubbed the United Alliance for Liberating the Mandalorian Empire, or short, the United Alliance. They waged a revolution to free the peoples of the Mandalorian and eventually succeeded, killing Kessam, too. The Mandalorian Republic was established. Trams wanted to destroy the Silver Castle, seeing it as solely a means of death and destruction. The Mandalorian Senate objected because it is a symbol to the citizens and soldiers alike. Trams agreed on only one condition: the superlaser be deactivated. The superlaser was deactivated. Many decades later, a newly-elected president by the name of Lenon Grasto reactivated the superlaser. This was only a part of the many changes he had created in preparation for his take over of the government. His claim to the Mandalorian Senate for doing this was that the Mandalorian Republic needed a new means of defense and the Silver Castle laser did it. There was growing turmoil in the galaxy and rebellion was a common fear. When Lenon created the Mand'alor Empire, the Silver Castle was a common tool of fear put onto the peoples of his empire, just as the last Mandalore had done. It was during this time that the superlaser was first used. When a new galactic war inevitable and battles were being fought in the Unknown Regions, Mandalore Grasto attacked a Republic fleet at Telos IV with the Silver Castle. He used the superlaser, destroying the planet, and sending a message to all of the League of Allies, which were his enemies. This is what started the Great Alliance War.
