The Great Endeavor was a scientific initiative that was sponsored by the ancient Tkon race. Thousands of years ago, the Tkon Empire realized that their home systems star threatened to explode and lead to the extinction of their civilization. The Empress of the Empire created a program that led to the imperial budget being placed into a scientific program that sought to move the central star of the Tkom's home system and replace it with a fresh star of a similar configuration thus saving their homeworld and its "core planets". Its development was seen as a controversial development by imperial colony worlds such as Rzom who saw it a fruitless attempt to save a worthless pile of rock.
