| - To be frank, I find the current image to be awkward, particularly because it is depicting the lights as they begin to settle, whereas the proposal actually shows the spirit lights as they appear when active. Despite the fact that there's a village in the proposal, it's not at all detracting from the lights which is still the focus given the coloration. I know you said the village dose not take away from the image, I feel that it does as it is just a background image rather than the focus like it is in the currant. Also you can't really see the lights in full bloom in the proposal which you can see in clearly in the currant. So I do not support. Snivystorm (wall • contribs) 16:38, November 13, 2013 (UTC) I do not support. I agree with Snivystorm, the village is foremost in the picture and is what draws the attention, where the lights are just the background. I believe the current should stay. 17:00, November 13, 2013 (UTC) I don't. There's something symbolic about the proposal in that like I said, it shows the lights in full bloom, settled, and as they appear. They are supposed to be evocative of spirits at peace and that is what the proposal shows. The current on the other hand, as I've mentioned, is too busy. The tentacle-like projection makes it appear as if the lights come out of the ground like some sort of burst pipeline, which it does not. It also makes it appear as if the lights branch off to create only patches of light, leaving parts of the sky the same. That's awkward and a gross misrepresentation of the subject, as I've said due to the fact that it's a screenshot of the lights as they begin to emerge as opposed to when they are actually in effect. Even the wikipedia page for the auroras depict the lights in a similar fashion to the proposal. I don't see why we shouldn't. Nobody is going to think that the village is called "spirit lights", and in practice, most pages that do not use infoboxes aren't always necessarily depicted by a profile image bearing only the subject. But regardless, they are represented accurately through an appropriate caption. Case in point water skin, Sokka's sword, spark rocks, and Air Nomad glider, among many others. When one looks at it, it's obvious that the most interesting thing about it is the lights behind the image. The darkness means that the village can hardly be recognised as a focus. The 888th Avatar (talk) 00:35, November 14, 2013 (UTC) I prefer the current as well, with the village and the mountains one can hardly see the lights themselves, whereas they are clearly the focus in the current. 03:57, November 14, 2013 (UTC) Added a second proposal that omits the distracting village while still keeping in line with WS's reasons for wanting to change the image. 00:12, November 17, 2013 (UTC) I at I'll feel at the lights look better in the currant as they fill the page and are in full bloom this one just shows them settled. Sticking with currant. Perhaps put this as an image on the page? Snivystorm (wall • contribs) 10:58, November 17, 2013 (UTC) The lights are supposed to be settled. The current image shows that in an unnatural state which only happens when the portal is recently opened. Which, with the current events, will never occur again. As such, the current is an uncharacteristic portrayal of how the lights look. It would be like have an image of a scowling Aang as his infobox image. That would not accurately portray his personality, and neither do the unsettled form of the lights portray the nature of the lights. 11:40, November 17, 2013 (UTC) Okay fine, support change to #2. Snivystorm (wall • contribs) 12:04, November 17, 2013 (UTC) I vote for #2 as well. DyingFlameTsui (wall • contribs) 22:13, November 19, 2013 (UTC)
