| - Joe Hankos is a Navy SEAL Team Commander and a man who appeared in Patience (episode). He was part of a family that included his sisters and an older brother. However, because of the Metropolitan Airport Bombing resulting in his father being included among the casualties, he grew up without a father. This resulted in him personally volunteering in leading the black ops mission, Operation Lex Talionis to wipe out the man suspected to be responsible for the attack, Tomás Orlando, a former Colombian freedom-fighter and drug smuggler, as he wanted to make sure he would "write the check" on delivering payback (something NCIS Director Leon Vance sympathized with). He gave commands from an aircraft carrier to the SEAL team deployed for the operation. After DNA analysis confirmed Tomas Orlando's apparent ties to the bombing, he then proceeded to send a SEAL strike team at the Tomas compound, although they discovered that Tomas had disappeared in a hurry. He then had the team pursue him, although fire from the locals forced them to withdraw. He then greeted NCIS agent Timothy McGee and NCIS analyst Abigail Sciuto after they were sent over by Gibbs to help analyze and repair the damaged laptop retrieved from the raid, although he ended up shocked when he learned that Tomas Orlando had actually arrived at the NCIS building. Shortly afterwards, he then learned that not only was Tomas Orlando actually innocent of the bombing, but the American Ambassador of Colombia, Olivia Edmunds had also been secretly wiretapping Orlando for weeks before his DNA was used to frame him. He later ended up deploying a drone strike against the compound of the person responsible for the airport bombing: Armand Luna, and later returned to Washington with McGee and Abby to thank Director Vance for solving the case.
