  • Helen Rappaport appeared twice in Coronation Street: in August 1973 she played Nurse Whittaker who tended to Elsie Howard after she was hospitalised in London and in July 1983 she played translator Eileen Hicks who accompanied a Russian trade delegation on a visit to Baldwin's Casuals. She also appeared in How We Used to Live, Crown Court, The Cuckoo Waltz, The Bill and Love Hurts among others but gave up acting in the mid-1990s and is now a successful writer and historian with several works to her credit including Joseph Stalin: A Biographical Companion, An Encyclopedia of Women Social Reformers, Queen Victoria: A Biographical Companion and Ekaterinburg: The Last Days of the Romanovs.
