- Born in eastern Los Angeles, Berman honed his artistic skills from his earliest days, California Institute of Art attending the Chouinard Art Institute forerunner and winning numerous competitions as a child newspaper. Joining Disney in 1940, Berman worked on numerous successful theatrical releases by the Mouse House in addition to his work on television's The Wonderful World of Color and The Mickey Mouse Club. Turning to writing and directing in his later years, Berman served as scribe to such popular later Efforts from the studio as The Fox and the Hound (1981) and The Rescuers (1977), in addition to later directing Disney's first PG-rated theatrical release, The Black Cauldron (1985).
