Leaf in the Wind (also known as Emblem for the Devil or A Leaf in the Wind) was to be Warren Zevon's second studio album, the first being Wanted Dead or Alive in 1969. However, due to the disappointing sales of the first album, among other reasons, it was never completed. Zevon had considered releasing it before his death. The album is currently unavailable in any form. In the end Zevon's second album was a self-titled one released over five years after Wanted Dead or Alive in 1976, during which time Zevon had performed as a live musician in various places, including Spain (where he met "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" co-writer David Lindell and wrote that song).
