| - __NOWYSIWYG__ Just like with Lightning Bolt Zolt and Shady Shin, "Amon" is just Noatak's villain name (or stage name, whichever you prefer). Is it okay if I just change all of these to simply Noatak, Zolt, Shin, and Ping? SorcererSupreme21 (wall • contribs) 17:28, September 14, 2014 (UTC) Per LL and HoT, he is most commonly known both in-series and out of universe as "Amon", thus, I believe it is more appropriate to leave the article named as such. 02:37, September 15, 2014 (UTC)

SorcererSupreme21 (wall • contribs) 17:28, September 14, 2014 (UTC) I oppose this change since Amon is the name that he assumed for himself and the name everyone knows him by. When people come here looking for him, the most logical name to search on is Amon, not Noatak (a name a lot of people regularly forget). 17:40, September 14, 2014 (UTC) But like I said, that's just his villain name. Other cases would be is that Lord Voldemort's real name is Tom Riddle II, Darth Vader's real name is Anakin Skywalker, Blackbeard's real name is Edward Teach, etc. etc. etc. It doesn't matter if that's his well-known name, he just said it was Amon to keep his true identity secret. For Noatak page name change, "Amon" could be a redirect and put in the "Also known as" character infobox section. SorcererSupreme21 (wall • contribs) 17:56, September 14, 2014 (UTC) It doesn't matter if it isn't his born name, ultimately it was the identity he chose for himself, and how he is best known in the franchise and to the fans. Hence, as Lostris noted, people are more likely to look for Amon than they are for Noatak, and thus it is more logical to keep the name as "Amon". 18:07, September 14, 2014 (UTC) But like I said, Amon should be a redirect page to Noatak. So even if people do look for Amon instead of Noatak, this shouldn't matter, because Avatar Wiki is a site that shows what a thing's actual name is, despite if it has a popular alias or nickname that's more-used than his real name. He was still called Noatak by his brother and Team Avatar when his origin was revealed. SorcererSupreme21 (wall • contribs) 19:29, September 14, 2014 (UTC) I do agree that his name "Amon" would be a redirect page to Noatak page as an actual choice in matter to recognize Noatak as who he is. not his alias. It is accepted practice to identify a character by the name with which they themselves identify. This holds true even for wikipedia, as many entertainers who assume stage names during their careers are more commonly known by those names (e.g. Lady Gaga, Twiggy, Slash, Marilyn Monroe, etc.) And in every case you mentioned above, wikipedia also has pages on those "villains" named in a similar manner (i.e. Lord Voldemort, Darth Vader, Blackbeard). At the end of the day, renaming "Amon" to "Noatak" just for the sake of using his birth name is very illogical, given that the majority of his character's importance stemmed from his life as the former.
