abstract
  • The Dorvain General Election, 1806 was held on the 27th May 1806 to elect the Third Parliament of the Commonwealth of Dorvain. Each of the 100 parliamentary constituencies elected one Member of Parliament to Parliament. This election saw the rise of a splinter faction from the Democrats, the Ultra-Democrats. The Ultra-Democrats were more open to the possibility of a civil war, as they felt the electoral system had failed and only full removal of the monarchy would suffice. The Royalists meanwhile fed off people's fears of a civil war, and new leader William Windsor promised greater reforms than his predecessor. The Democrats meanwhile received votes from people not keen on civil war and instead wanted a more pragmatic path to greater workers rights. The result was a third consecutive landslide for the Royalists which gained ten seats, whilst the Democrats suffered a greater defeat than their first election. The Ultra-Democrats won five seats.
