Mono Lake is an alkali lake east of the Sierra Nevada in California. It has no outlet. Due to diversion of its tributaries by Los Angeles it had been gradually drying up, but in 1994 a court decision restored some flow to the tributaries that flow into Mono Lake and it has gradually been regaining some of its lost volume.
