They are damaged by firing into the hatch when it opens, much like Carriers. They look almost exactly like a real harvestman. They have two vertically-stacked red eyes, a pair of small mandibles, and a large panel on the rear of the main body. As the Daddy Long Legs takes damage, this panel or "health indicator" becomes darker and darker, until it is destroyed. The monster is most vulnerable to damage taken to its hatch, but unconfirmed reports suggest that it can still be damaged when the hatch is closed, by using the EDF mech cannon. Missiles cannot lock onto it when the hatch is closed. Their main "attack" is to drop enemies from the spawning hatch, but it also can fire its orange beam cannon 3 times at a target in a raking fashion; this beam is not very accurate and thus does not pose much of a threat to foot soldiers. Their second direct attack is to fire three red homing energy missiles from the aforementioned rear panel, each of which can be quite damaging; the best way to avoid them is to dodge in one direction (e.g. to the left) for the first shot, the opposite direction (in this case, to the right) for the second, and again in the first direction (left again) for the third shot. This rapid movement is too fast for the missiles to track, especially when airborne in Jet Armor. Once reduced below a certain amount of health, the Daddy Long Legs may also occasionally use the Carrier-launched cluster bombs first seen in Chapter 1: On The Run. Unlike the Carrier's cluster bomb, this version is not an instant kill - but it is still extremely deadly. On the bright side, it may not use it very intelligently; the bomb can damage Ravagers too. In the PC version, the Daddy Long Legs' health indicator spot functions as a weak spot much like the spot seen on Carriers, making it easier to kill if it is dropping many large enemies such as spiders. The Daddy Long Legs is not actually particularly tough, having slightly fewer hitpoints than a regular Hector.
