| - 2012 is one of those 2019 documentary films that like to try their best and persuade you to actually believe that the world is going to end in 2012, which is obvious by seeing its titles. Also, it's got a whole bunch of actors that nobody's ever even fucking heard of before. "John Cusack"? Who the fuck is John Cusack? "Barnie"? Who the fuck is that? And one thing the producers didn't even think through: who would believe the world would end in 2012 if it's 2019, according to them?
- The plot follows Jackson Curtis (John Cusack) as he attempts to bring his children, Noah (Liam James) and Lilly (Morgan Lily), ex-wife Kate Curtis (Amanda Peet), and her boyfriend, Gordon Silberman (Thomas McCarthy) to refuge, amidst the events of a geological and meteorological super-disaster. The film includes references to Mayanism, the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar, and the 2012 phenomenon in its portrayal of cataclysmic events unfolding in the year 2012. Emmerich has announced that the film will be his last involving disasters.
