  • Mosuma Daoub is Javid's sister, who claimed that NCIS Medical Examiner Dr. Donald Mallard was responsible for her brother's death. When she was eight years old, she and her brother Javid left Afganistan to flee the Soviet invasion. They ended up in a refugee camp at the Afghan-Pakistan border in the summer of 1980. Javid was taken by the CIA and was tortured for information about the war, something he knew nothing about. Mosuma was helpless as her brother became increasingly mutilated by the CIA operative nicknamed "Mr. Pain." Dr. Mallard, a British volunteer doctor in the camp, patched up Javid along with other patients who were interrogated. Mosuma discovered Javid was murdered by an overdose of morphine caused by Dr. Mallard. She eventually left the refugee camp and moved to the United States, where she attempted to leave her past behind her. Mosuma lived a secular lifestyle along with her husband Ezmaray Daoub and their two children, and was known by her co-workers to be calm and caring woman. She ran into Dr. Mallard at a crime scene, nearly thirty years after their experience in the camp. She covered her face with her handwoven scarf and attacked Dr. Mallard at the crime scene, calling him "the bringer of death" and shouted that he killed her brother. Mosuma fled the scene and headed for refuge in the Afghani embassy. She accused Dr. Mallard of violating Article 4 of the Geneva Convention that protects non-combatants in war from mistreatment. She believed that the doctor was complicit in the torture of refugees at the camp and was guilty of her brothers death. Mosuma would learn the truth with help of Gibbs, who gathered information from his team and from Trent Kort to find the old torturer's location. Mr. Pain was taken to the embassy and conversed with Dr. Mallard while Mosuma, the ambassador, and NCIS listened. It was revealed that Dr. Mallard was disgusted with Mr. Pain's actions, and had killed Javid to stop the CIA operative from continuing to torture him. Mr. Pain revealed that he was merely using the torture of refugees to mentally break Dr. Mallard and convince him to leave the camp, and that Javid's torture would likely have stopped if the doctor had only left sooner. With the camp doctor gone, the remaining refugees would break and reveal their secrets. After hearing the truth, Mosuma agreed to drop the war crimes charges against Ducky and instead would pursue charges against the elderly CIA agent.
