Ben Barber is the main protagonist in Ride Along. An ex-high school security guard, wants to join the police force in Atlanta. His future brother in law James Payton doesn't seem worthy as a detective or marrying his sister Angela Payton. To prove to his James that he is worthy of marrying his sister and becoming a cop like him, he decided to go in a ride along to prove his worth. In the middle of his ride along he helped James on a tough case that he was working on an arms deal that is run by a guy named Omar.
