- Due west off the coast of the Deadfriar Bog lies the uninhabited wilderness of Eel Island, a thin tract of jungle and swamp surrounded by a shallow, coral atoll. Entrance to the spacious, sandy beaches of the island are difficult; there are but a few, narrow breaks in the reef that can only be navigated in vessels no larger than a skiff. It is rumored that the House of Highwaymen, in particular members of the former Blacksong Horde, store vast amounts of treasure somewhere on the island. Natural rivulets of jungle rainwater crisscross like giant cobwebs along the bed of the forest, which are inhabited by innumerable varieties of poisonous freshwater eel. Entrance to the spacious, sandy beaches of the island are difficult; there are but a few, narrow breaks in the reef that can only be navigated in vessels no larger than a skiff. It is rumored that the House of Highwaymen, in particular members of the former Blacksong Horde, store vast amounts of treasure somewhere on the island. Natural rivulets of jungle rainwater crisscross like giant cobwebs along the bed of the forest, which are inhabited by innumerable varieties of poisonous freshwater eel. Eel Island is also home to native giant sea slugs and piranhas, which live among the surrounding reefs, and the island proper is said to be inhabited by a vicious assemblage of will-o’-wisps, giant frogs and large disease-ridden rats. It isn’t of any wonder why anyone would use the soaking, hostile environment as a treasure vault (if, in fact, anyone does).
