| - Notice that Jesus only provided the secular commandments. None of the times when he repeats the Ten Commandments he does not mention worshiping God. Instead, his Commandments seem to contradict each other, some cannot be found in the "Ten Commandments."
* : Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
* : Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.
* : Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother
Another thing, notice when Jesus said give to the poor. Jesus himself did not practice this. In Mark 14:3-9, some of Christ’s disciples objected to the waste of a costly ointment used on Jesus’ head, “for it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor.” Jesus responded, “Ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.” This is selfish and callous. He offers no plan or hope for eliminating poverty and treats feeding the poor as an optional activity that is not as important as worshiping him—like many modern evangelists who squander contributions from the faithful on lavish lifestyles. Or like the pope, who lives in opulence. Where were the wise words of Jesus regarding waste and inequality? Where were the social programs that would lessen poverty? Finally, when Jesus said "follow me" what does that exactly mean? Follow Jesus like a disciple, and in Luke 14:26-33 Jesus instructs for you to do that you must hate your father and mother, hate your wife and children, hate your brothers and sisters, and hate your own life, otherwise you cannot be Jesus' disciple. You must also give up everything.
- Romans 3:10 says "There is none righteous, no, not one."
Paul claims that there never has been a righteous or good person. But according to Gen.6:9, 7:1; Job 1:1, 2:3, and Lk.1:5-6, Noah, Job, Zechariah, and Elizabeth were all good and righteous people.
- James, Timothy, Peter and Jesus are fictional characters. There is a vast growing and respected position that the historicity of Jesus is very weak.
- Merely repeating yourself will not make your arguments any more credible.
- Well Kirk, neither do you seem to know squat about the Ten Commandments, and we have not even got started of how little you know of science, theology, philosophy, logic, etc. These people can name lots of beer, and they can do the same with cars, sports, TV shows, and such -there is nothing in the Commandments that says "Thou Shall Not Know Beer."
Hold on. Kirk said "The Bible says God will give every man according to what he has done" but earlier he said we are saved by grace alone. So which is it? Are we judged by our works or by grace?
- How can Kirk suggest maybe a person has not used the Ten Commandments as a key to reach someone when in the beginning of the program he said it was a hidden secret?
- Unfortunately, Kirk's analogy is fallacious. What if the person you tell this to is a two-month old infant, or someone who does not and cannot drive, and yet you are telling them they have a speeding ticket. According to Christianity, everyone is guilty. Not a single child is born innocent, they are guilty from their first breath.
- Where exactly in the Bible does it prophesies that the messiah will reshape the "key"? Putting the blame on a fictional character like Satan does not give any credence to an argument.
- Perhaps the reason why people fall away or turn away from faith is because faith is irrational. Liars like Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort reveal the dishonesty of Christianity, it does not make you a better person, and Christianity has no proof to support its extraordinary claims.
- Paul says he did not know of sin until he knew about the Law. So what happened to the other cultures and civilizations that predate Christianity or that were across the globe who never heard of the law or Christ. Because they did not know of the law, did God just condemn them for being unlucky by being born in the wrong place at the wrong time?
1 John 3:2 says "We know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is." John expects to live to see Jesus return. Clearly that did not happen. 1 John 3:6 says "Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not" so Christians don't sin? 1 John 3:22 says "And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight." Well, if Kirk and Ray have indeed kept the Commandments, or any genuine Christian, then they can test this verse and see if they can cure AIDS, but we will not hold our breath.
- This is basically an appeal to emotion. Some people's conscience is not in "agreement" or can find common ground. When instructing to go around the person's intellect, Kirk is insisting to basically shut off your brain and not think about it. This is basically blinding your reason and preventing you from thinking for yourself. Of course both Ray and Kirk would like nothing more than to have people blindly follow them into their faith and being sheep or mindless robots.
- Nice marketing there Ray. Appealing to emotion for people to purchase your material. Jesus would be proud.
- Comfort's tactic are you a good person? is dishonest because he does not use the actual Ten Commandments written in stone in Exodus 34, which say nothing of lying, thievery, adultery, murder, and such.
Finally, his parachute analogy is flawed, it is just a reversion of the flawed argument known as Pascal's Wager.
- Way of the Master cherry-picks which commandments the use. They use the ones from Exodus 20, the ones God SPOKE , whereas the commandments God DID write down in Exodus 34 do not include anything about prohibiting murder, thievery, and such.
