A Landing Zone is an area near the opponents base which a player specifically secures to facilitate bringing in additional troops, be it troop transport, engineers or otherwise. In order to stage an land attack on an enemy who's base is on an island or behind strong point defenses, it might be neccesary to transport troops by air. To prevent the air transports from being destroyed by the enemy, or the dropped land units from being destroyed quickly by enemy defenses, it may be required to clear a landing zone. This can be done using different tactics.
