Synopsis
| - The issue opens up with a flashback of when Hal Jordan first met Abin Sur and became the first Green Lantern of Earth, when suddenly Abin attacks Jordan declaring him unworthy of the ring and that he abandoned the ring when he needed it the most. It then jumps to Hal in an F-22 when he was on a bombing run in Chechnya on terrorists who attacked a US battleship and killed 72 sailors. He was shot down with Jillian "Cowgirl" Pearlman and Shane "Rocket-Man" Sellers and was a prisoner of war for a very long time and sees the terrorists take Jillian away. Then Hal escapes with Shane and Jillian and are rescued and returned to the United States, when Hal wakes up from the nightmare. Instead of going to the psychiatrists that they were ordered to see, the three pilots go to Pancho's Bar for drinks. A day later, Hal is told that Cowgirl went on a mission to get back at the terrorists who shot her down and they lost contact with her after she was shot down, again. Hal then goes to his locker and takes out his ring and Power Battery and recites the Green Lantern oath and flies off towards Russia. Meanwhile, the Rocket Red Brigade notices an unidentified object within their borders and they find out that it's Green Lantern, who it seems has crossed into their borders a number of times in the past. Hal finds Jillian's plane and finds tracks that leads him to the terrorists' camp, which he attacks and destroys and searches for Cowgirl, but she is not to be found when Hal is shot by the head of the terrorists, but the force field protects him. Hal then interrogates the terrorist as to where the girl is, when the leader and the other terrorists are destroyed by a blast from the Global Guardians, who attack him, while the Rocket Red Brigade heads towards the battlefield. Meanwhile, back at the crash site, a bounty hunter named Hunger Dog is on his trail and lets his benefactor know that he is on Green Lantern's trail, but he is told that other bounty hunters are also after the Lantern. The alien known as Loragg tells his master of the news, his master being the one behind Hal's recent troubles, the son of Abin Sur, Amon Sur.
