The Trucial States (Arabic: إمارات الساحل المتصالح; Imārāt as-Sāhal al-Matṣālaḥ) is a sovereign Arab country located in the Arabian Peninsula, bordering Saudi Arabia to the west, Yemen to the south and Iran in the north by the Arabian Gulf. The country was formally linked via the Trucial accord of 1853, which established closer links between many of the emirates and sheikhdoms of the area. On 8 March 1892 nine states formed a new country, the Trucial States. The tenth, Qatar and its dependencies to the south joined on 1 April 1910.
