Spruce Meadows is one of the world's most premier horse show jumping facilities. It has been voted #1 in the world for the past four years. Built in 1973 by Ron and Marg Southern, the complex was opened in 1975. Today, the site boasts over twenty buildings; seven permanent stables, two indoor arenas, tournament centre, administrative offices, Congress Hall, British House, on-line television production suite, maintenance, and storage buildings - all encompassed within 300 acres. Spruce Meadows boards approximately 80-100 horses year round, but can have over 300 horses lodged during tournaments.

Spruce Meadows hosts four major tournaments each year, culminating with the Masters in September. The tournaments attract Olympic and world champion riders and horses. The grounds of Spruce Meadows are open 365 days a year. Admission to the grounds are free, however admission is charged for tournaments.
