When the group began to search for orders from New Republic High Command, they instead found disturbing news that a small Yuuzhan Vong force had been observed moving in the direction of the Naboo system. Calaan, a Naboo resident who had recently lost one of his best friends as well as his mother in the fighting, was determined to stop the Yuuzhan Vong from decimating his home, where both his wife and two of his children currently resided. He immediately asked Captain Reshan to drop out of hyperspace so that he could leave to aid Naboo. However, Republic Squadron member Jarton Kinsk refused to let Calaan go alone, and when Calaan refused to order them to follow, he volunteered, with the rest of the squadron and soon enough the members of Black Knight Squadron and the crew of the Dagger following suit. Touched by the loyalty of his friends, Calaan thanked them all and the small renegade group, acting without orders from the New Republic, set out for Naboo.
