Eaton attended University of Western Ontario for his BBA and McGill for his MBA. Following his career at T. Eaton co. Eaton was appointed as Ambassador to Ireland by Prime Minister Brian Mulroney in 1984. In 1992 Eaton left his post to become a star candidate for the PC Party in Don Valley West for the next federal election.
