Morzan was a member of the thirteen Forsworn who betrayed the Dragon Riders and served Galbatorix as his right hand and was a major antagonist in the Inheritance series. He was a high ranking official in the Empire many years prior to the Inheritance series and was the most feared of the Forsworn alongside his dragon. Some time later, however, fought a dragon rider named Brom and was killed along with his dragon along with the other twelve Forsworn. Morzan was also the father of Murtagh, the half-brother of Eragon, who was the son of Brom.

- Morzan was a Dragon Rider, the first and last of the Forsworn that served King Galbatorix as well as the most powerful servant to Galbatorix before Murtagh. He was the wielder of Zar'roc and the father of Murtagh whose mother was Selena (also Eragon's mother). In the end of Eldest and through part of Brisingr, he was also supposedly the father of Eragon, but later this is proved false. He became the greatest of all the Broddring Empire's supporters. Although he does not make a physical appearance in the books (having been killed long before they started), his legacy has a lasting impact on Eragon's quest.
