Charles Coleby Morland (1839-1908) was an umbrella manufacturer and local politician active in the Croydon area. When Croydon was incorpoarted as a municipal borough in 1883, Morland was elected to the Croydon Borough Council. He served as Mayor of Croydon in 1903-04. He remained a member of the council. latterly as an alderman, until his death aged 69. Morland was a prominent member of the Quaker religion, and had 14 children with his wife Jane née Fryer. His seventh child was Egbert Coleby Morland (1874–1955) a renowned physician and author of medical works.
