The Pharos at Alexandria was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Construction on the 135 meter tall lighthouse began during the reign of King Ptolemy in 270 BC by the architect Sostratos, but it wasn't until the sixth century AD when it became a Wonder, taking the place of the walls of Babylon.
