With regards to English teaching, the Mormon Church runs Brigham Young University (BYU) and Interac Schools. BYU offers students a bachelor's degree in TESOL which then allows them to then be employed overseas in America's colonies of Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. The Church's Interac School may also place BYU graduates into illegally outsourced jobs in Japan as public school teachers. BYU professor Neil Anderson served as the President of TESOL Inc. when the concern of teaching English as a missionary language came to the fore. Most mainstream churches abandonned their missionary work due to ethical concerns. See Pennycooke's Teaching English as a Missionary Language
