  • The Failure Song is a song featured in the episode The Crystal Empire - Part 1. It features a duet between Twilight Sparkle and Spike. This is the first time Spike has been clearly heard singing in the series, though he accompanies a choir in The Heart Carol, and his past-generation counterparts respectively sang in the first and third generations of My Little Pony. The song was unveiled at the 2012 San Diego Comic Con on July 13, 2012, without the sound effects present in the episode. It is followed by The Success Song. Previous alternate titles of this song include "Failure Success Song", likely a reference to both this song and its repeat, and "I Wasn't Prepared for This", which was Daniel Ingram's preferred title, taken from Meghan McCarthy's lyrics. "The Failure Song" was also the working title. This song, under the title Twilight's Failure Song, serves as the ninth track on the album Songs of Ponyville. It also serves as the first track of side A on the vinyl album Magical Friendship Tour. The introduction of this song can be heard if one fails at a level in My Little Pony: Puzzle Party.
