abstract
| - Saint Richard the Lionheart of the House of Plantagenet ruled the Luthori as Rzeczpospolita King, Rzeczpospolita Emperor and finally Holy Luthori Emperor from February 2143 until the Act of Succession 2442, finally accepted he wasn't coming back from the crusades, declared him a saint, and named a successor. With a reign spanning 299 years he was the longest reigning monarch in Terra. St Richard was elected to the throne under a system of elective monarchy known as Golden Liberty, during the Rzeczpospolita period of the Luthori Imperial Commonwealth: but during his second term the First Holy Luthori Empire was created in October 2149 with Richard declared as Rzeczpospolita Emperor. He remained theoretically an elected monarch but the franchise was shifted from the citizenry to the szlachta (nobles, members of the Sejm), who required a two-thirds majority to elect a new Emperor. A new constitution in May 2174 changed his title to Holy Luthori Emperor and established a theocracy.
