  • Lewis Carroll was the pen name of Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, the author of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Through the Looking-Glass and The Hunting of the Snark among other works. * At the end of the webcomic Get It? Johnny's friend is revealed to be an Agent called Agent Lewis, possibly in reference to Lewis Carroll
  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There are written by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, who is better known as Lewis Carroll. Both literary works have been incorporated into the story of Lost in many episodes, such as "White Rabbit", "The Man Behind the Curtain", "Through the Looking Glass, Part 1", "Something Nice Back Home", and "Lighthouse".
  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (commonly shortened to Alice in Wonderland) is an 1865 novel written by English author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. It tells the story of a girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world (the Wonderland of the title) populated by peculiar and anthropomorphic creatures. The tale plays with logic in ways that have given the story lasting popularity with adults as well as children. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the literary nonsense genre, and its narrative course and structure have been enormously influential, especially in the fantasy genre.
  • "'And the White Queen and the White King loved each other very much, and together, with their rabbit friends, they filled the land with wonder once again'," an older Alice reads to a little girl who sits atop her lap, both of them staring down at a book written by Alice, turned to a page containing a drawing of Will and Anastasia who rule benevolently as the White King and Queen. Alice's daughter smiles at the ending to the story, and she asks her mother what she's going to call it. Closing the book, Alice admits that she doesn't know, having hoped that her daughter would help her choose, and then the little girl suggests, "I think you should call it... Alice's Adventures in Wonderland." Alice tells her that that's a splendid idea, and her young daughter goes on to ask if the story is true
  • Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, sometimes known as Alice in Wonderland, is a 1865 fictional fantasy novel written by English author Charles Dodgson, published under the pseudonym Lewis Carroll. The first edition was illustrated by John Tenniel. It is considered to be one of the best examples of the "literary nonsense" genre, and still has a lasting popularity with both adults and children, resulting in many adaptations based on the novel being produced across all types of media.
  • right|thumb|Page from the original manuscript copy of Alice's Adventures Under Ground, 1864 Alice was published in 1865, three years after Charles Lutwidge Dodgson and the Reverend Robinson Duckworth rowed in a boat, on 4 July 1862 (this popular date of the "golden afternoon" might be a confusion or even another Alice-tale, for that particular day was cool, cloudy and rainy), up the Isis with the three young daughters of Henry Liddell (the Vice-Chancellor of Oxford University and Dean of Christ Church): Lorina Charlotte Liddell (aged 13, born 1849) ("Prima" in the book's prefatory verse); Alice Pleasance Liddell (aged 10, born 1852) ("Secunda" in the prefatory verse); Edith Mary Liddell (aged 8, born 1853) ("Tertia" in the prefatory verse).
  • In 1986, when Dr. Gillian Taylor was beamed aboard the Klingon Bird-of-Prey HMS Bounty, Admiral Kirk welcomed her with "Hello Alice, welcome to Wonderland." (Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home) The book, along with Carroll's other works, was a favorite of Amanda Grayson. She frequently read it to Spock and Michael Burnham when they were children. Amanda gifted a physical copy of the book to Burnham after her graduation from the Vulcan Science Academy. (TAS: "Once Upon a Planet", DIS: "Context Is for Kings", "Lethe")
  • The novel's protagonist is a young girl named Alice who follows a talking white rabbit down its hole. Alice falls through the Earth and finds herself in Wonderland, a strange underground world which is populated by many unusual characters, including other talking animals, legendary beasts and living playing cards. During her time in Wonderland, Alice grows and shrinks several times, using magical food and drink in order to change her size. Although the book is for children, many scholars have found criticism, parody and humor about the society in which Carroll lived in it.
