- The Shortsword is one of the first physical weapons the player can buy, others being the Katana, Cutlass, Spear, all of which can be bought at the Sailing Bazaar in the First Sea. Besides the ability to swing very fast, it is not an exceptional weapon in any way as far as combat goes.

- Shortswords are weapons which can be used for stabbing like a dagger, but they are about 2 feet, a bit slower and inflict more damage. To wield this weapon, any character must have a strength of at least 5. This weapon can't be used by clerics and druids due to their ethos, they aren't allowed to wield these weapons and mages and sorcerers don't have sufficient training in melee combat.
