abstract
  • The RG685 features an ash body bolted to a maple neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with sharktooth position makers. Components include active Ibanez Lo-Z pickups with a humbucker at the bridge and single-coils at the neck and middle positions, an Edge double locking tremolo bridge with a locking nut and Gotoh tuning machines. It has a master volume and two other knobs which control separate EQs for treble (±20 dB @ 6 KHz) and bass (±13 dB @ 500 KHz). It also has a mini-toggle which connects the bridge humbucker directly to the output jack — Ibanez calls this feature the "kick off switching system". The RG678 is a similar model with passive pickups. The RG685 was available only in Japan and was discontinued after 1989.
