The Japanese Art Society of America was founded in 1973 by a group of New York collectors of Japanese prints. Initially called The Ukiyo-e Society of America, it promotes scholarship in, and appreciation of, all forms of Japanese art. The society sponsors lectures, seminars and exhibitions, and publishes the journal, Impressions, annually.
