| - Mac OS X 10.1.3 is the third update for Mac OS X 10.1 "Puma". It is an update that improves the reliability of Mac OS X application programmes, includes important security features, and adds new and updated support for Digital Hub peripherals. Its build number is 5Q45 (5Q83 if you bought a new iMac G3 or iMac G4 with the OS already installed). Major support extensions came in the field of CD disc recording. Support was expanded for QPS, EZQuest, LaCie, Yamaha, MCE Technologies and Sony devices. For Image Capture and iPhoto, support was improved for several digital cameras from Canon, Kodak and Sony. Graphics-wise, this update provided improvements, including OpenGL-wise, which enabled DVD playback on external VGA displays on the PowerBook G4. When a new display is connected, as of this release, the PowerBook's video mirroring function will, by default, be automatically activated. Also, there are improvements to note in iTunes when the full screen visualiser is used. Major improvements also came network-wise, as well as security-wise. There is now login authentication support for LDAP and Active Directory services, and OpenSSH is now updated to version 3.0.2p1. WebDAV now supports Digest authentication, and Mail now includes support for SSL encryption.
