Later in life, Organa became the secret wife of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker and the mother of Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa, two of the most important figures in Galactic history. She was also the grandmother of Jaina, Jacen and Anakin Solo, as well as Ben Skywalker. This relationship made her the great-grandmother of Allana Solo, and an ancestor of Nat, Kol and Cade Skywalker, as well as Ania Solo. Organa was the democratically elected Queen of Alderaan before representing the Alderaan sector in the Galactic Senate. As Queen of Alderaan, Organa fought bravely to liberate her people during the Trade Federation's invasion in 32 BBY, thus becoming one of the most respected political figures in the Galaxy. At this time she also held feelings, that were reciprocated, for Obi-Wan Kenobi, though Kenobi's duties as a Jedi forced him to put these feelings aside and nothing came of them. In 22 BBY, following the Military Creation Act, Anakin Skywalker was assigned to protect her, and during the Clone Wars the two secretly married, having fallen in love in the aftermath of the Skirmish in Aldera Palace. Senator Organa participated in many events of the Clone Wars, both political and military, while also becoming pregnant by her husband. Around the end of the war she doubted the motives of the Galactic Republic. In 19 BBY, appalled by the transformation of the Republic into the Galactic Empire, she signed the Delegation of 2000 along with her brother Bail, Mon Mothma and other Senators. After Anakin slaughtered many Jedi, Obi-Wan visited Padmé and told her about her husband's transformation into the Sith Lord Darth Vader. She refused to believe him and went to Mustafar to find her husband. Unknown to her, Kenobi had hidden aboard her ship, and when Kenobi revealed himself, Vader choked Organa in a fit of rage, leaving her unconscious. After Kenobi defeated Vader, and left him for dead, he took Organa to a medical facility on Polis Massa, where she gave birth to twins and named them Luke and Leia. However, her husband's fall to the Dark Side of the Force had broken her heart, causing her to lose the will to live, which, coupled with the strain of childbirth, resulted in her death. Before passing away, she spoke her final words to Obi-Wan, saying that she believed there was still good in Anakin. At her funeral, thousands of Alderaanians lined the streets to pay their respects to their beloved former Queen and Senator.
