| - Baldur O'Dean is a recurring character in Random Kingdom. Making his first appearance in Midgard, he does not reappear until Earth VI (though a similar character appears in Earth 0 - V). He is always the son of President O'Dean, who in turn is the president of a large corporation - variously the Magotech or Metropolis. Baldur's name is a play on Baldr, norse god of light. His last name, O'Dean, sounds like 'Odin', chief norse god and father of Baldur in norse mythology. Consistent with his "god of light" and nordic aspect, Balder is tall, blonde, with light skin and blue eyes, and is constantly seen wearing only white clothing. At the time of the story, he is usually 25 years old.

Originally, he used a normal handgun in fights, but after his father's death, he used his father's GunGear weapon. Balder O'Dean is the son of president O'Dean in Earth VII and of the RvneTek in both the fantasy (Midgard) and future tech (Earth III) incarnations. In Earth III, "Baldr" is also the name of a character from the Heeresgruppe Opfer für den Endsieg, though these two were never considered identical until the Jan '09 retcon. The name "Balder" is actually that of the germanic/norse pagan god of light wikipedia:Balder, son of chief god wikipedia:Odin, while the last name, "O'Dean", is a wordplay on "Odin", given as a family name as the mythological Balder was Odin's son. Balder O'Dean's father is thus likely an allegory of Odin, especially since he appears to have no first name.
