The Bludgeon-class was a direct successor to the venerable Raker-class missile frigate, but it was shorter still, at only 120 meters, and it carried more weapons. It even carried one and a half squadrons, or 18 fighters, to defend itself and scout ahead. Once the launchers were exhausted, the ship usually made a hasty retreat, but it only had to do so for a few hours—just long enough to manually reload each launcher with five torpedoes from the spares. Then it would quickly return and destroy a chosen target before retreating again.

  • The Bludgeon-class was a direct successor to the venerable Raker-class missile frigate, but it was shorter still, at only 120 meters, and it carried more weapons. It even carried one and a half squadrons, or 18 fighters, to defend itself and scout ahead. Unlike the Raker, the Bludgeon lacked any defensive weaponry, only being armed with 152 proton torpedo tubes loaded with capital-scale ordnance. Each launcher carried five torpedoes, and enough spares were carried inside the ship to reload each launcher twice more. Once the Astragon Navy got this design, they gave it the computing power to launch and target up to 760 shots at once. Once the launchers were exhausted, the ship usually made a hasty retreat, but it only had to do so for a few hours—just long enough to manually reload each launcher with five torpedoes from the spares. Then it would quickly return and destroy a chosen target before retreating again.
