The Harrowing was a Chaos Space Marine warband in the early years of M33. It was led by the warlord Gzrel and a coterie of Chaos Sorcerers comprised of Maroth, Xiatsis, Cottadaron and one called Horkos, who was apparently weakest and most subservient to Gzrel and Maroth. The warband had over a hundred renegade Astartes members, as well as enginseers, mutants and slaves. It controlled the ailing hunter ship, the Blood Crescent, and used it as a mobile base of operations.

  • The Harrowing was a Chaos Space Marine warband in the early years of M33.   • The Harrowing was a ship obtained by Matsu Ike. After her death, control transferred over to Ayumi Pallopides and Silvia Moonstar. It was destroyed by an Imperial strike team during the Massacre at Cyrillia.
  • Upon dying, a wraith might take some initial comfort from the idea that things can't get worse. A Harrowing quickly puts an end to that belief. Harrowings are surreal passion plays intimately tied to a wraith's sense of identity, they take place in the Labyrinth, are set in the wraith's memories, acted out by Spectres and directed by the Shadow, all to the ultimate goal of disconnecting the wraith from the living world and eventually his own sense of self.
  • This uncommon spell, known to Varisian fortune-tellers, allows the caster to use a Harrow deck to perform the Harrow and tell a fortune for him or herself or someone else. A harrowing must cover one specific set of events or course of action, and the caster performs a choosing for each subject and a spread for the course of action. The spread consists of nine cards drawn that represent events or factors of the past, present, and future. A successul harrowing may improve the caster's success in the events that may come to pass.
  • The Harrowing is an event to commemorate Halloween festivities in the world of Valoran. It introduced a few temporary cosmetic changes to the game (items, maps), and some Limited Edition skins and runes. The event started on October 18 and culminated on October 31st, 2010. In 2011, there was another Harrowing which lasted from October 19 to October 31.
  • First, the apprentice enters the Fade through ritual use of lyrium. Once across the Veil, the subject must face and overcome a demon that wishes to possess the apprentice's body and enter the living realm. This involves navigating whatever challenges have been set up and seeing through whatever ruse the demon (usually one of pride or desire) puts on. The demon itself would have been summoned by Circle mages to the same part of the Fade the apprentice enters, lured by the promise of a living body waiting for it. The Harrowing is more a test of will, common sense, and the ability to resist temptation, than one of magical ability.
