The Plasma rod is a Vaul infantry weapon. It is primarily used for both ranged and melee attacks. Roughly 3 meters long, the weapon can be used as a staff to cause blunt force damage. It is very effective against lightly armored opponents, but losses some force when used on heavier armor and plasma shielding. As such, users try to take down such enemies at range with plasma bolts. Several modules can be added to enhance the plasma rods effectiveness in combat. One can enhance melee damage by altering the rod's ends to emit energy blades to penetrate heavy armor (Gundam Wing: XXXG-01S2 Altron Gundam). Another mod useful for melee combat covers the rod in an energy field enhancing its resistance to damage and allows users to electrify biological enemies (Star Wars: Electrostaff). Depending on the size, the electric shock can either stun or kill whatever comes in contact with the rod. For ranged attacks, the plasma rod can be modified to fire a continuous beam suitable for wearing down plasma shields and large crowds (Green Lantern: Power Baton). The beam can even cut through or weld together several meters of metal plating as a makeshift tool. Lastly, the rods can be equipped to fire Hardlight smart bullets to intercept incoming projectiles increasing the user's defenses (Andromeda: Force lance).
