  • The Smithery is a location from The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Located on the outskirts of Kakariko Village, the Smithery is the residence of the Dwarven Swordsmiths. Here, the blacksmiths forge and temper weapons for customers. When Link first visits the Smithery, one of the Dwarven Swordsmiths is missing, and the other comments on his disappearance. With this knowledge, Link travels to the Dark World and finds the missing brother south of the Village of Outcasts, in a strange frog-like form. With the use of the Titan's Mitt, Link saves the swordsmith and brings him back to the Light World where he is reunited with his brother. As thanks, the Dwarven Swordsmiths forge Link's Master Sword into the Tempered Sword at the Smithery. In the Dark World, the Smithery's geographical counterpart is a seemingly empty ruined house. After the Dwarven Swordsmiths have been reunited, a purple Treasure Chest appears in these ruins. As the key is locked inside the chest itself, it is impossible for Link to open it on his own. Instead, Link takes the chest with him. If taken to the Lockpicker near the Desert of Mystery in the Light World, he will open the chest, revealing the bottle inside, in exchange for Link keeping his true identity a secret to everyone else.
