Rachel Meyer was Heather Donahue's best friend. Rachel's family moved to Montgomery County, Maryland in the late 1980s and she began attending Wheaton High School. One of the first people she met there was Heather Donahue in passing in the hallway. They later became friends when they both worked on the school production of Romeo and Juliet at the Whitfield Theatre playhouse. When Heather disappeared in the Black Hills Forest in 1994 while filming a documentary, Rachel didn't find herself crying until she saw Heather's mother.
