  • Psychology is one of the fields studied by the DHARMA Initiative (as stated in the Swan Orientation Film). It is the study of the mind and human behavior. Also mentioned in that film is that this research was "following in the footsteps of visionaries like B.F. Skinner", who was a psychologist who studied operant conditioning.
  • If you are interested in psychology material you may find the material we have on the The Psychology Wiki useful. I would be very interested in having details of the A-level syllabus for Psychology. If you could copy them onto this page that would be really good. we could then link our wiki pages to the syllabus and you could copy the content over as you wished. Please feel free to take from us what you need its all open access.Lifeartist 16:37, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Psychology is the study of the how's and whys of human behaviour.
  • Psychology is the study of the human mind. Neural psychology deals directly with the human Brain. Social psychology deals with social interactions.

  • The psychology wiki is about psychology, mostly from an academic and professional point of view. It has over 29,000 articles. Quote from the main page: We aim to provide an up-to-date, authoritative statement of knowledge, theory, and practice in the whole field of psychology. The site is written to serve both staff and students of our academic community, to inform professionals, both in training and in the field, and to provide information for the people we seek to help.
  • Psychology (meaning "study of the mind" in Greek) is apparently a scientific study of behavior and the dirty stuff that goes on in peoples minds. Also, everything leads to it. It was invented on October 16th 1854 by Jean Martin Charcot, Sigmund Freud's instructor. Since the dawn of time, humanity has wondered about the essential nature of human consciousness but has often been distracted by television and the temptation to fornicate with young, attractive men. Psychology helps us seek answers to questions such as, “What makes Catholic school uniforms so sexy?” or “Why would someone waste their time reading utter nonsense on the Internet?”
  • After confronting Bu'kaH in 2151, Jonathan Archer later told Trip Tucker that "I think I might have made a tactical error dealing with the Klingon woman. I asked her for help. She could see that as a sign of weakness." In response, Tucker asked if Archer had "been boning up on your Klingon psychology?" Archer then explained that "we've run into them three times, and every time they've wanted to destroy us. I'd love to figure out why." (ENT: "Sleeping Dogs") The Delta Quadrant Think Tank solved problems by using what was described as "pure tactics, [and] psychology." (VOY: "Think Tank")
  • The effect of advances in AI research on psychology and neuroscience are easily underestimated. With a deeper understanding of the interplay between symbolic reasoning and emotional/motivational structure, psychologists will have more powerful tools for working with human cognition, with far reaching consequences. These changes will be very visible several decades before prosthetic AI enhancements become a reality.
  • Psychology is what non-Christians fall back on to explain human feelings and behavior. Otherwise you can get all you need to know straight from the Bible. However, social scientists like to think they can make generalizations about human behavior through research which they then call facts. For example, cognitive psychologists like commie George Lakoff say that how we interpret the world is done so through conceptual frameworks.
