About: Realspace   Sponge Permalink

An Entity of Type : owl:Thing, within Data Space : 134.155.108.49:8890 associated with source dataset(s)

Species that could survive in the vacuum of space include exogorths and Cylo's cyborg Whale-ships. Neebrays could survive in nebulae, such as the Kaliida Nebula. As well as being able to survive in space, the purrgil were capable of traveling through hyperspace. Many droids were able to operate in space. Astromech droids were exposed to the vacuum of space when conducting repairs outside the hull of a starship and when inserted into the astromech socket of a starfighter. KX-series security droids could also survive in the vacuum of space.

  • Realspace, known by the Vagaari as crawlspace, referred to the universe as viewed from an observer traveling slower than the speed of light. Filled almost entirely with vacuum, but containing stars, planets, and other astronomical bodies, it was the dimension within which Humans and nearly all other inhabitants of the galaxy lived. Other distinct dimensions are: hyperspace, through which starships could travel faster than light and otherspace, the home dimension of the Charon species. Realspace was usually referred to simply as space by those living within it. Traveling in particularly isolated areas of space known as deep space for extended periods of time led to the condition known as deepsick which caused mental and emotional breakdown.
