In the mid 1970s, a group of body snatchers infested a US Naval facility in Cuba and possessed almost all stationed personnel. This drew the attention of private military Militaires Sans Frontières and their main operatives, Big Boss and Kazuhria Miller. As such, they sent in a cyborg from the future named Raiden (who is a primary protagonist of the chronologically later Metal Gear games) to neutralize them all as he was the ideal operative to perform such a mission since he was immune to the body snatchers possession, as they could only take control of biological beings and Raiden was mostly robot.

- They are special entities that can enter the body of anyone that has a soul. As such Earth-00, and Earth-04's animals are not affected. Body-Snatchers also can't inhabit the body of a victim from the Leviathan Project, and can be repelled by high pressurized sound waves. Once a Body-Snatcher inhabits a body it changes the person on a spiritual level, and cannot be removed. The original soul is destroyed, and the person is killed. The Body-Snatcher inherits the abilities of the body they just snatched, but they cannot be killed unless their head's are shot, beheaded, or crushed. If they have an injury anywhere else they'll heal instantly; even in the person is bisected. They are usually deployed for espionage missions, but WOLFHOUND manage to sniff them out using dog whistles.
