Sognu was the French entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 performed by Amaury Vassili. It is a dramatic operatic ballad and only one of two entries in contest history performed in the Corsican language, the other being Mama Corsica in 1993. The song was considered to be a heavy favorite for victory with the bookies, and as a member of the newly re-established Big Five, it was automatically qualified for the final. On the night, it was performed 11th following Russia and preceding the return of Italy. At the close of voting, it only managed 15th place with 82 points.
