Sister Abigail's leadership suggests the Kindred were different from the anabaptist-type Amish, Mennonite or Hutterite communities where women are much more submissive. Sister Abigail was very protective of her people and insisted the agents give up their weapons before entering the village. She also forbid Agent Scully to assist a Kindred man who seemingly choked to death at the dinner table.
