The PumwI' class (English: Accuser) was a Klingon dreadnought class launched in the 2280s. By 2293, there were eight PumwI's in service, with two more under construction. They were equipped with five warp nacelles and were among the largest ships in the Klingon Defense Force until the advent of the Negh'Var class. Only the best Klingon captains would be given the command of such juggernauts in their time. However, they were slower than Constitution-class ships, making it rather easy for enemies to escape combat. (TOS video games: Klingon Academy, Starfleet Command (game))

  • The one disadvantage of the pumwI' was their slow speed, making it somewhat easy for enemy starships to escape a confrontation with them. Despite this, the pumwI' was quite maneuverable for a ship of its size. It also possessed a large amount of disruptor arrays, trilithium-depleted photon torpedo launchers, and an antimatter field projector. This gave the Accuser an extremely devastating punch at any range. Furthermore, the Accuser was equipped with a cloaking device which made it the largest Klingon vessel at the time that was capable of cloaking.

The Accuser was created to work in conjunction with the Sword of Kahless class battleships and, together, replaced the unsuccessful Ber'taa class advanced heavy cruisers. Many of the problems with its predecessor model are believed to have been corrected by Klingon engineers. At the beginning of the year 2293, thirty of these vessels were in service with twelve more under construction. The fate of the class following the shift in budgetary priorities after the explosion of Praxis has not been specified. (TOS video game: Klingon Academy) In the TOS video game: Starfleet Command (game), these dreadnoughts were depicted as having a variety of alphanumeric codes, ranging from C8 to C10K.
