The 2001 Pennzoil Freedom 400 was a Winston Cup (now Nextel Cup) event held at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 11, 2001. Bill Elliott used a little pit stategy to grab the lead late, and then held off Michael Waltrip by 1.42-seconds for Elliott's first victory since the 1994 Southern 500. Jeff Gordon, racing a conservative setup, finished 28th and maintained a 305-point championship lead on Ricky Rudd (21st) with two races to go. Stats
