The Bulgars and the Rus of Crimea attempted to kill General Carolus and Emperor Marcus Aurelius as they returned from the conquest of Parthia and Armenia. The army of the Romans was much more capable than that of these barbarian tribes, who were misled by Marcus Aurelius' adopted son Commodus, and moved all the way around the Pontus Euxenos (Black Sea). Crimea was a place of notice for the Cimbrians who were influencing all the tribes in that region but Crimea woul not establish its own Kingdom in the Cimbrian Alliance because there was not really much dissatisfaction with the affairs of that Province.
